Philip Close started at McDonald's as a crew member in Joplin, Missouri. In 2002, he became the Owner/Operator to both Neosho McDonald's locations. Phil's daughter, Alex (Close) Maffei, considered the McDonald’s restaurants as a second home and at times would help herself to her favorite beverage – a Frozen Coke. She was able to earn herself an official job in 2006 while still attending high school in Seneca, Missouri as a Crew Member at the Neosho Blvd McDonald’s location.
After graduating high school in 2008, Alex went to Missouri Southern State University to pursue her degree in Business Management. This direction would prepare her for a future to get involved with the family business. Graduating with a degree in 2012 did not automatically give Alex the right to passage in becoming a McDonald’s Owner/Operator. From Crew to a Crew Trainer, then Shift Manager on to General Manager, Maffei was determined to follow in the path of her father and become a McDonald’s Owner/Operator. She did so in 2019, taking ownership of the very first restaurant her father owned in Neosho.
Today, the Close/Maffei family owns and operates nine McDonald’s restaurant locations across the Big Mo BU.
