Bill Mathews along with his wife Vickie, have had a 35-year partnership in the McDonald’s business with his brother Walter and his wife Bette. Bill’s roots run deep within the McDonald’s brand since 1974. After moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas to attend the University of Arkansas, he landed his first job to support him through college as a crew member at McDonald’s. Little did he know at the time, that decision would later turn into him owning and operating 35 McDonald’s restaurants across northern Arkansas and provide the opportunity for his son, Cody Mathews, to join forces with him turning their organization into a family business.
Cody along with his family, resided in Springdale, Arkansas where he went to schoo. Starting at the age of 12, he was able to help at the restaurant on South Thompson Street. He remembers his dad allowing him to do small tasks in the restaurant such as helping in the drive thru and preparing customer's drinks. All of these experiences gave him a glimpse of what it would take one day to follow in his father’s footsteps. However, the right to ownership does not come easily for a child of a McDonald’s Owner/Operator. In 2015, a few years after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Cody started as Shift Manager at one of the McDonald’s locations in Springdale, Arkansas to work towards becoming an approved Owner/Operator. For the next six years, he continued to work his way through the prestigious “Next Generation” program McDonald’s requires children of Owner/Operators to complete in order to obtain a stake in the family business.
In 2021, Cody was given the opportunity to take over ownership of one McDonald’s location in Harrison, Arkansas at 1314 N. Main Street.
