Phil's wife's uncle, Tom Tucker, was one of the very first McDonald's Owner/Operators in the Springfield, MO area. At a family gathering, Tom propositioned that Phil get involved in the burger business with his already proven experience in owning a restaurant in Mt. Vernon, MO.
Phil not too long after that conversation took place, became a "registered applicant" and began training in the Ozarks area. Starting from the beginning of the ranks at McDonald's, on Phil's first day he was shocked at the face-paced environment in the kitchen.
In 1981, Phil was given the opportunity to become an Owner/Operator in Alliance, NB. While his time there provided a lot of growth and experience, they got called back home by being given the opportunity to purchase Tom Tucker's restaurants in the Springfield, MO area to allow him to retire.
Over the years, Phil has had ownership of 12 of the McDonald's restaurants across Springfield, MO.
In 2013, Phil's daughter Ashley Kalil joined the family business to be able to pursue where her heart was all along to lead and have an impact on people. In 2022, after completing the rigorous "McDonald's Next Generation" program to become an Owner, Ashley was granted approval to become a second-generation Owner/Operator.
Today, the Stocker/Kalil family own and operate 5 McDonald's restaurants across Springfield.
