Chuck Marshall, Rusty & Stephanie Marshall-Rice

Restaurant Locations:

Missouri: Butler, California, Carthage, Centralia, El Dorado, Greenwood, Independence, Jefferson City, Lamar, Lee's Summit, Moberly, Pleasant Hill, Sedalia, Versailles, Warsaw

Chuck and Stephani Marshall-Rice are second generation Owner/Operators that currently have 23 McDonald's restaurants. The start of their journey of them being in the McDonald's business goes way back to their parents, Charles and Carolyn Marshall.

Their parents went from being retired in their small town they called home in Kentucky to McDonald's business owners. In 1992, they applied and went through the process required to become McDonald’s Owner/Operators.  Many have wondered why they did this after they were already retired. It all came down to family. They wanted to provide an opportunity for both Stephani and her younger brother Chuck to take over a family-oriented business, together.

For the next three years, Stephani and Chuck worked in a McDonald’s restaurant in Kentucky to learn the ropes of the business while their parents did the same and waited for their time to be granted the opportunity to become Owner/Operators. In 1994 they packed up as a family to move to Kingwood, West Virginia to purchase their first restaurant as a family.

While there they were able to learn and grow in the business, but it just did not feel quite like home. Charles and Carolyn would take special trips around the Midwest seeking out opportunity to find a place that felt more like their Kentucky roots.  In 1995, Sedalia, MO presented itself as the place they knew they could live, grow, and provide opportunity to the community. They knew Sedalia would be a place to call home for themselves, their children and their grandchildren.  Over the next four years, Stephanie and Chuck had to prove themselves just as their parents did to officially become Owner/Operators of a McDonald’s restaurant.  In 1999, they both purchased their first restaurants - Stephani purchased Versailles, Missouri and Chuck purchased California, Missouri McDonald's.

Today, Chuck along with his wife Angie and five children as well as Stephani and her husband Rusty and their three children all live in Sedalia, Missouri. The family provides many opportunities and support across the communities they serve and love partnering with educators to support local students as well as RMHC.

Fun fact: They all still gather for dinner many nights a week with the ones who started it all, Charles and Carolyn.
